To start this year’s edition of the WWE Royal Rumble premium live event tonight would be the women’s match. 30 superstars would take to the ring for a chance at a championship match at WrestleMania. As always, there are surprises along the way as the women are announced every 90 seconds.
This year, we will see a massive surprise. Coming in at #5 tonight would be current TNA Knockout champion, Jordynne Grace, which shocked many. Grace would last for quite some time and impress the sold-out crowd at Tropicana Field, in St Petersburg, Florida, with periods of cheers as Grace would make moves in the ring before being eliminated by Bianca Belair on the apron outside the ropes.
Grace would make what is believed to be a “one-off” appearance as the company has branched out to other promotions to add to the match in recent years. In last season’s match we would see then Knockout champion and former WWE superstar, Mickie James return and perform well in the event.
This trend is one to keep an eye on in the future, especially with the latest events of Vince McMahon stepping down from the company. The Royal Rumble event will begin the road to the above-mentioned WrestleMania event which is the company’s largest premium live event of the year.
