Jacob Prokarym Talks Memphis Baseball Commitment

“I think life is all about taking chances and my goal is to win here.”

We see, yet gain, another talented commitment for the Memphis Baseball program.  Left-hander, Jacob Prokarym, comes to Memphis from Dallas College Eastfield Baseball as he announced on his social media.  Last season, Prokarym finished with an 8-3 record along with a 3.95 ERA and 84 Ks. We had a chance to sit down with Jacob tonight for a quick conversation on Memphis, the staff, and more.

We would see in the first year under head coach Matt Riser the program has zero quit in them. With this, the program is attracting players that fit the mold being built. Prokarym would choose Memphis because of the vision being set by Riser, as well as pitching coach, Cory Barton for the future of the program.

When speaking with us Prokarym would say “I saw the vision that Barton and Cameron had for their pitchers and fell in love with the analytical side..”. He would add to this by saying this different approach could “shift him into the next gear.

When asked about the Riser, his staff, and his thoughts Jacob would glimmer excitedly. He would say “Coach Riser is awesome and so are all of his guys.” Prokarym would continue to show his support of Riser by saying that “he’s someone I immediately gravitated towards when i met him.” This is further proof that Riser and staff are building a program that attracts not only talented players but players who want to be in Memphis. In addition, these players all play hard to harken back to the earlier statement about having no quit.

When speaking about what Memphis fans can expect from Prokarym he would show some self-awareness and humbleness. Jacob would say “I think some fans might see me as over the top.” which he would immediately back up with “but I work hard and every pitch is at my 100%.”. The young man is looking forward to a great career in the Bluff City in Tiger Blue.  Jacob also made it clear what his ‘Why’ is in his life.

When discussing what continues to motivate him, Prokarym would be look to the future. He would say “I think life is all about taking chances and my goal is to win here.” He would finish thee statement with what he hopes winning in Memphis can assist with and that is to “get a chance to play pro ball.”.

After this great conversation with Prokarym, we are seeing more clearly the vision he spoke about when talking about the program. The Memphis Baseball program has a “no quit” attitude at the top in Riser and the roster is taking the same identity. The vision is clear, fight until they make you stop, then take an extra swing. Whatever you do, don’t quit.
