Army and Navy For The 125th Time
We are not quite finished with the college football season. The 2024 season has one game left, America’s Game, between the #22 Army Black Knights and Navy Midshipmen. This season’s edition, the 125th in its storied history, has an American feel as both programs are in the American Conference. We will briefly preview this game as we look at some game details.
We travel to Landover, Maryland, and Northwest Stadium {Capacity 60,000}, as it will host the matchup. We will hear Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson from the booth and Jenny Dell on the sideline as CBS will broadcast beginning at 3 pm ET. The pageantry of both academies filing into the stadium is one of the most unique yet powerful moments in the sports world and is one of many reasons this game holds much prestige.
The Midshipmen enter the contest looking to run what has been a nearly unblemished season for the Black Knights. With this, Navy will need to continue to play as they have in their 8 wins in 2024. The multiple attacks from this offense present many challenges as this has some Wing-T principles and passing concepts to confuse opposing defenses.
Army is looking to finish its first season in the American with no losses in conference play. To do this, the Black Knights will need to rely on their powerful rushing attack, stout defense, and reliable signal caller. In addition, Army will need to keep its emotions in check as this game has much on the line.
In a game that many across the nation might find to be monotonous, based on the offensive schemes, but on what will be a cold day in Maryland {Preojected high temperature of 39 with a low of 30} it will be a great way to close the season. The ‘American Way’ as the AAC has coined many posts in 2024.
