The University of Memphis Names Dr. Ed Scott as Next Athletics Director
Memphis has found its 14th Athletic Director. The university announced that Dr. Ed Scott is its next Senior Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. This role will be put into effect on July 22, 2024, with an introductory press conference scheduled for this Friday, June 27th.
Before Memphis, since 2022, Scott has served as the Deputy Athletics Director at the University of Virginia. While in Charlottesville, Scott would oversee sports medicine, strength and conditioning, sports psychology, and equity and inclusion among the many responsibilities,
Before his time with the Cavaliers, from 2016, Scott would take over as AD at Morgan State as they were just levied with NCAA violations. With this, Scott was able to improve the program while navigating the waters with the NCAA. With this work, Scott would be named the 2021-22 Cushman & Wakefield Athletic Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Athletic Directors.

Scott would have the following to say on the new position with Memphis.

Scott will have many things to consume his early tenure. With the stadium renovations, search for a new Softball coach, and more many eyes will be on Scott to see how his time in Memphis starts.
