2024 Scooters Coffee Frisco Bowl Preview
After a wild 2024 college football season, we have finally arrived at ‘bowl season’ across the country. Our coverage today takes us to Frisco, Texas, Toyota Stadium {“Football” capacity 20,500}, and the Scooters Coffee Frisco Bowl. This bowl, formerly known as the Miami Beach Bowl, originated from its current location in 2017 and the 2024 edition will mark year number seven {including a canceled 2020 event}. The mentioned game this season will feature the West Virginia Mountaineers, from the Big 12 Conference, and, from the American Athletic Conference, the #25 ranked Memphis Tigers.
We will briefly look at each program and how fans can watch what should be an exciting early-season gift.
This is a tale of opposite sides of the coin for the programs entering the postseason.
West Virginia
For WVU, following the letting go of Neal Brown, they announced on Wednesday {December 11th} that the former head coach in Morgantown, and Jacksonville State, Rich Rodriguez, was taking the country roads back home as he would return as head coach. This should ignite excitement in a 6-6 team that was a play or two away from a 9 or 10-win season. We will discuss in later pieces on this game the players, stats, and more on this program who look to prove their record isn’t indicative of who they are.
Memphis
In the case of Memphis, the Tigers entered the game riding a three-game winning streak and were ranked in the most recent CFP Rankings at #25. Fans have become accustomed to seeing the Tigers in the postseason as they are now in their 11th consecutive bowl game which is the longest active streak of all “Non-P4” programs. Behind a loyal and talented signal caller, a multitude of running backs and receivers who can make plays, and a stingy defense, Memphis will look for the most wins, with 21, with a win in Frisco.
How To Watch & Listen
Fans wanting to watch this first-time meeting between the Tigers and Mountaineers must tune in to ESPN beginning at 8 pm ET/ 7 pm CT to witness the action. Mike Monaco will be on play-by-play along with Kirk Morrison as analyst. On the sideline will be veteran Dawn Davenport as she will bring updates from coaches, perspectives, and more.
To listen to the local Memphis coverage of Dave Woloshin, Jarvis Greer, and Greg Gaston, on the sideline, fans in the area will need to tune their radio to 98.9 WXMX -FM The Roar Of Memphis or the official Memphis Tigers App for the radio style broadcast.
